Shubham Raj is an Institute Postdoctoral Fellow at IIT Hyderabad. He completed his Ph.D. and MS in Civil Engineering from IIT Madras. His doctoral research enhances the foaming characteristics of a synthetic surfactant and formulates a novel foaming agent from industrial waste, apart from addressing challenges in foam concrete development, viz., bubble collapse, dimensional stability, and mechanical performance. With a B.Tech. from NIT Agartala, Shubham's earlier projects include low-cost housing technology (rammed earth), feasibility of recycled concrete aggregate as partial and full replacement of natural aggregates in concrete, and high-volume industrial waste utilization for road construction, which align with his vision for sustainable construction. Shubham envisions integrating biomimicry in future work, aiming to create low-carbon cement and construct environmentally conscious infrastructures, contributing to a greener future.
